Sunrise Beauty!

Up bright and early and wrapped up this morning to go and watch the sunrise, which was absolutely stunning! Worth getting but at 7 on our day off for, and meant we had plenty of time for adventuring the rest of the day!

After a quick shower and breakfast, we wrapped up again and headed to Bamburgh. We parked at Bamburgh Castle, which looks like Hogwarts out of Harry Potter, and headed to the beach. We decided to walk from Bamburgh to Seahouses, which it turns out is quite long, eating half our lunch as we walked along. As we were coming into Seahouses, it started drizzling and as we got to the port, it started chucking it down! We sheltered in front of a restaurant, along with the rest of the population of Seahouses, and ate the rest of our lunch whilst we were there. To try to avoid the rain, we headed to the shops and then on to the arcade in the hope that the rain would stop before we got bored. As we were about to resign to the fact of having to get a taxi back to Bamburgh, the rain stopped and the sun came out again.

We headed back along the beach, you'd never have been able to guess from the sun and the heat that it had been raining just minutes before. As we headed back, we ran along a sand embankment, trying to keep balance and not fall as the sand fell away at our feet. It turns out that Rory has a lot better balance than I do, so I ended up with an extremely sandy bum! We also spotted a fish fossil in the rocks as we headed back. By the time we got back to Bamburgh castle, we were absolutely knackered so headed straight back to the car and then home (with a stop at Tesco to get cookies and hot chocolate).

I decided to treat us to dinner, so we headed along to The Cross Inn. The food was absolutely delicious, I would highly recommend a dinner there for anyone in the Berwick area! I had the most delicious burger smothered in mozzarella with the biggest onion rings you'll ever have laid your eyes on! Rory opted for chicken stuffed with haggis, which tasted amazing (from my one bite) and if we go back again, I will be getting that!

We headed home, stuffed to the gunnels with food and drink, and spent the night curled up on the sofa, with the fire roaring, watching The Departed. We headed to bed relatively early as we were both absolutely shattered from our walk; over 10 miles in total according to our Vivofits!
