Forest Gold Found!?

Yellowfoot -mushroom is one of the best species to my mind.

All the time I sung this finnish children's song... telling the story of small teddybears having picknic in the forest. It is important to make youself easily detected if there can be wild animals nearby in the finnish forest. And as we saw some signs of bears yesterday, I sung. Hearing the voices bears can hopefully obey you and escape safely ;)

Normally they always do.
So we met no bears. No mooses. No deers. No hunters either.

Because the hunters were in our secret yellowfoot-forest yesterday, there was some smashed mushrooms in the ground. However we picked some 6-7 litres of them in out secret place. In supermarkets and market places Yellowfoot is some 6euros/litre. I took some of the mushrooms to my mum. And got some lingonberries from her.

Lovely trade!

In Finland we can pick berries, mushrooms in any forest. But there is a shadow for this too: cesium-137.

In 1986 the russian nuclear power plant Tchernobyl exploded and the worst pollution cloud landed here, to our forests, in the central Finland. So even if the taste of these mushrooms is very good and ok, I would not eat them too much! If asked EU stardards. There is a slight problem to remember in eating mushrooms...

To my finnish blipper friends, here is some information how to handle the mushrooms, if you like to diminish the radiation.

Bon appetit!
