Derelict Thursday at Broken Hill

It is not hard to find something derelict to blip in Broken Hill. Over 125 years the region has generated over $100 billion to the Australian economy from one of the world's richest deposits of silver, lead and zinc.
However today the supplies are almost exhausted and much of the profits have been re-directed elsewhere in Australia with only a couple of mining operations remaining. Galleries now outnumber pubs and it seems tourism is becoming a major industry.

This image is of remaining structures at the Junction Mine in the centre of town. It was first pegged in 1884 and continued operations until 1972. Sights like this dominate the local landscape.
