Skeleton vines

On the way back from buying wine in Neffiès this morning, where there's a very friendly cave cooperative which we don't visit often enough, as they also sell good wine.

I like the stark shapes of these old vines in winter and being able to see through the rows in this vineyard which is above the level of the road. You can see how stoney the ground is here - it's very poor soil which means fewer grapes per vine, but better flavour in the wine.
