Happy 10th Anniversary Blip!

Not in red but in gold, as I like gold much better than red balloons. These horses out of the treasuries of the Southern Ukranian Burial places come running to you to Edinburgh to tell you how happy I am that you had this glorious idea 10 years ago. Enjoy your special day and I hope that you are in for many more years.

These horses have been made by Scythians, about 600 years before Christ. They were found in big burial hills in the steppes of Southern Ukrania and as a first act of political independency Ukrainia allowed in 1991 a German team of archeologists to dig and delve into these hills in exchange for Germany letting them delve into a Slawian hill north of Luebeck. For the first time Ukrania did this without first have to ask Moskou for their ok. They declared the big amount of golden artifacts that were then found as a national treasure and I wonder how long they will be able to defend their treasures against a greedy Mr. P.

This picture is a picture of a poster that I bought in 1991 when visiting the exhibition
"Gold of the steppes" in Schleswig-Holstein Castle.
As it is grey and wet today I just stayed in. "Pajama day" some would call it.... :-)
