A million miles away

Although I live in the village where I teach there are some days now when I can go a whole day without even thinking about work and yet before Anya came along work took up most of my time and energy.
Today I had to take Anya to the doctors for her jabs and we passed all the children on their way into school.
It's strange to think that only a few months ago I would've been welcoming children into my classroom at that time in the morning and preparing for a busy day at school.
As I sat with Anya by the lake today school felt like a million miles away and I'm not yet ready to think about going back to work; our days together are just so precious but flying by so quickly!
