Went to the university library to collect a couple of books and then to one of the cafes on the campus where I did a little work, sustained by coffee and carrot cake.

This week's assignment is to analyse a piece of non-fiction to see how the author has used language, whether they used a tone that's appropriate for the audience, and if their purpose in writing has been achieved. I've chosen an article written by Rowan Williams for Country Life. It's accompanying a competition to find the unsung heroes of rural churches. There's plenty of material for the assignment in it, so that's good.

Came home, did a bit more work. Went to the cinema to see 'The Last Station'. The cinema was lethally toasty, sleep soon followed. I don't think I missed too much. The film was beautifully shot and Christopher Plummer was superb - the others were pretty good too!

It made me wonder whether we are genetically coded to worship and that if a god of a religion isn't what we choose to worship, we worship something else, but worship we must. Maybe that's not such a crazy (and probably far from original thought). To worship is to 'give something its worth' to 'honour it'. Oh. To love then? Simple.
