Boudha is looking at you!

No trip to Kathmandu is complete without visiting the giant Buddhist Stupas. The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. This ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of 1979, Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Great day in all, including crazy taxi rides with 7 people in cars that take 5 max, then the local bus which only moves when completely full! The noise and dust of the pot-holed roads are quite something. Swayambhunath, that we also visited, is another Stupa that has the all seeing eyes of Buddha. I shall attempt to upload some more images to Flickr if we still have internet later.
