Welcome to NYC

After our 5.30 start, the journey to New York goes smoothly. The kids are great on the flight, even though it's the longest they've been on.

The minibus from JFK takes us all over Midtown, dropping other passengers off before reaching our hotel. On the way, the everyday is eyecatching - from the traffic to this welcoming sign.

After we arrive and get unpacked, we go for something to eat at the nearby Bond 45 restaurant. It's an excellent meal, but keeping the kids awake feels a bit like hard work...as does making sure they're all in sight amid the Saturday night crowds of Times Square.

It feels good to have got here.
