I spent today looking at the cremation that came out of this Late Bronze Age urn fro Aberdeenshire. Made a bit of a change from the mediaeval skeletons I've been analysing over the last few months. It's probably about 27 centuries old.
The base of the pot is (internally) around 15cm diameter. It would have stood 60-70 cm tall, originally, but has been truncated by modern ploughing down to this height.
Rubbish pottery, too. For over a thousand years, most Scottish pot was thick and ugly and poorly fired. I hope their wood turning skills were better.
