View over Buttermere

With Red Pike straight ahead, and to the right of that, Haystacks, which is the hill we climbed today. Walk was picked out of a book of walks/climbs rated Energetic, Strenuous and Arduous, being easiest to hardest. Haystacks was rated as Energetic, and was chosen to break us in ready for Skiddaw tomorrow which is Strenuous (we will climb twice as high). A very interesting walk with very mixed terrain. Some pretty steep climbs, and some real scrambling over rocks to the summit which was fun.

Andrew seems to have developed sausage fingers. That's not a medical term, just the best way I can describe what has happened to him. Unsure why. Could be the exertion, could be a build up of heat in his gloves or an allergic reaction to his gloves they are new). On the other hand, it could be the mountain water that he drank. I would assume it was pretty clean, and he said it tasted fresh and clean. I'm crossing my fingers for him. He can't cross his own.
