Essence

There are lots of ideas about what photography or painting or poetry or making seaside pictures out of pasta are all about. Once you get past the simple representative function, the arguments all boil down to one, essential, idea. It is about Communication. It is as simple as the transmission of an idea or a feeling or a form from one human being to another. Anything that gets in the way of that transmission is a failure of the process. In this case, there are no such problems. I think that I can confidently assert that you will immediately be overwhelmingly aware of the tremendously good mood that I am in. The joy radiates from this picture and the owner of the stoniest heart and drinker from the half-emptiest glass cannot help but be lifted up to a plane of near ecstasy.
