Oldtimer

I had a flashback when I saw this Morris Minor van parked opposite the work today. My dad had a work-van like this back in nineteen oatcake. Our first car. And it was grey too! But it had Baker Perkins in fine big script emblazoned across the side and it toured Scotland taking him to the country's bakeries. He was a brickie turned ovenbuilder; the old bakery oven burners were all brick lined.
Our longest trip in the van was to a cousin's wedding in Slough. He got a couple of old Mini seats from somewhere, threw them in instead of his tools and off we went. They weren't fixed to anything though so me and my sister just slid around in the back as we battered 400 miles down the old A roads. Happy days! Though maybe not for my folks!
