Blackheath Oval

Blackheath Oval is very lovely, so though I know next to nothing about cricket I occasionally take myself off there, especially when the cricket's being played in the mist.

In 1931 Don Bradman hit a century off three eight ball overs in a social match between Blackheath and the nearby coal mining town of Lithgow, to commemorate the opening of the new cement pitch.
He went on to make 256.

I am such a cricket ignoramus that I barely know what that means.
Alright, I don't know what that means, but I gather it's pretty impressive.

I do know that apparently it just happened, and that Bradman was very surprised, or so he said.

If you'd like to know more you can go here.

For the record, the Hydro Majestic reopened for business today after many years.
It was lovely to see the old girl cleaned up and busy, with a full carpark.
I'm looking forward to Gemax's blip, as he went to high tea there this arvo.
