If you've never hear of butter tarts, your life just got better. The filling is (for foreigners) a little related to the gooey filling in pecan pie, though I'm not sure if it's quite the same. You can add nuts or raisins to them or flavour them with maple syrup. They're simple and sinfully rich and smooth. These ones were at the St Lawrence Market in Toronto
