Wow!

Today was the day for using the spa voucher and ice hockey tickets I was given for my birthday on Wednesday.

I’m used to the German full day spa experience but the new elements this time were a trip to the “wellness” centre - a full body massage followed by a facial. Very metrosexual.

I’ve enjoyed the Turkish hammam massages but this was different - a masseuse as opposed to a muscular Turkish bloke. All very pleasurable, and no cold shower required.

After a bit of pigeon German followed by her high school English, we tried some pigeon Russian as she’s from Kazakhstan originally.

The ice hockey was amazing. Ingolstadt came from 0-2 and 1-3 behind to win 5-4. Three of the Düsseldorf players were in Ingolstadt’s championship winning team last season, so they got a huge welcome from the home fans and warm greetings from their former teammates in the after match handshakes - especially Jakub Ficenec who was an Ingolstadt player for about 10 seasons.
