Dia de los Muertos Alter

One of the Dia de los Muertos traditions, apart from spending the night at a loved ones graveside, is a commemorative alter. They can be simple or elaborate, but they all incorporate items the deceased would find enjoyable, including favorite food and drink. Also, the multi-tiered alters typically contain a framed photograph of the departed loved one(s), candles, marigolds, incense, sugar skulls, and fresh fruit. I discovered this elaborate alter adjacent to the Marine base downtown. This was after riding by three others, so I had lots to photograph on my way through town. What a great time of the year to be in Mexico!
