Tai O

Today we took a bus over the hills to Tai O, a little fishing village on the west end of Lantau Island. It is the home of the Tanka people who for generations have built their homes on stilts above the tidal flats.

I'm not sure if the 4" by 4" posts they have use or the layer of barnacles that cover them that do all the supporting but whatever takes the strain the shacks appear to stay up!

So far my Blips have not been the usual sights you'd expect of Hong Kong. I will post on Flickr those when I return. Tomorrow we may head down to Kowloon to get some city shots at night.
