...is this New Holland Honeyeater's nest.
It must have blown down from a higer branch but thankfully no broken eggs or signs of babes around so hopefully it has done its job.

The nest is lined with the rusty brown soft plant matter from a Banksia flower (the finger like thing in the picture) and even when building nests in suburban gardens with no Banksias, they still line the nest with soft matter of the same colour.
Wool, fibre, string or whatever is handy!

The interior designers of the bird world??
