What would she say??

Imagine Queen Victoria asking her beloved Prince Albert what he he'd seen in Manchester today! An enormous Father Christmas would be his reply! What's one of those she would retort (Coca Cola had still to invent the Santa Claus we know today!). Anyway you get the gist... Here we have Santa looking over Albert Square in Manchester with his highness Prince Albert taking in the view. Manchester is getting ready for probably the largest Christmas market in the country with stallholders coming from all over the world. Albert Square is the focal point and the building in the background is Manchester Town Hall, one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. Regarded as one of the finest examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in the United Kingdom, it is one of the most important Grade 1 listed buildings in England. The building was designed by architect Alfred Waterhouse and was completed in 1877. It contains many grand ceremonial rooms, such as the Great Hall, which is decorated with murals by Ford Madox Brown that illustrate the history of the city. - See more at: Manchester Town Hall
