An Unkindness of Ravens

Double chocolate treat

A chocolate labrador amongst the chocolate lilies.

Lucy is staying with us for a couple of days, while my parents take a visiting English relative along the Great Ocean Road. The bush is full of chocolate lilies this year - I have never seen so many. This area was back burned a year or two ago; maybe that has made them more profuse than usual. Unfortunately, the air was not full of the enticing aroma of chocolate – you have to pretty much stick your nose in the flower to smell it. Victorian native flowers just can't compete with their Northern Australian relatives in terms of showiness – it's all about conserving moisture (small thin leaves, small flowers).
