River Tay in full spate

After a night of torrential rain in Scotland it brightened up and the sun broke through around midday at Dunkeld. I expected that the River Tay in full spate would be today’s blip and I took some experimental shots at slow shutter speeds of the water racing past the bank. However these giant mushrooms among the leaves caught my eye and made an interesting foreground to my river picture combined with the autumn colours of the beech leaves. The three leaves that lie on the mushroom’s surface give a sense of scale and show that this is not lens distortion but a very big mushroom! Pity I don’t know enough about what is poisonous and what isn’t, because it would have made a rare mushroom omelette!
