Winter Trees

As it wasn't actually raining when we left Keswick this morning we decided to take the scenic route home. This meant driving north to Carlisle and taking part of the old Roman road which runs along the route of Hadrian's Wall. We left that road just north of Corbridge and after a pub lunch drove south, getting home at about 3.30 pm.

The landscape near Hadrian's Wall is very bleak. Those Roman soldiers must have been very tough.

This picture was taken from a car park which we noticed just after driving through the village of Twice Brewed. I will have to research what that name means.
