A Collector of Oddities

The Salmon Above the Flood

A sculpture in Inverurie where the National Rail Enquiries website inexplicably left me for an hour on my way back to Edinburgh (Aberdeen would be the more logical place to change).

However, if I had not got off here I would have missed this fine salmon sculpture. The plaque explains that the Picts had carved a fish in a stone at a ford in the river Don. If you could see the salmon, it was safe to cross, if you couldn't, it wasn't! The sculpture is by Alison Simpson.
