Stargazing

Thought I better have a quick blip to let you know whats been going on since dad got here, there are more blips to come from the last few days but I just haven't had time to post anything.

Last night at work ended up being stressful but luckily I managed to get to sleep early after getting home. The afternoon was lovely and we failed miserably to go on the Luge or to get on the Earnslaw. After a bit of a re think, we booked dinner for tomorrow night and then went stargazing up the gondola. Walking a little further up the hill from the top station, the group get to peer through telescopes at a few stars and learn a lot (retaining the information is another matter entirely) about our night sky. Looking at galaxies, nebula and black holes for around an hour was great fun and the guides start a competition between the "teams" to see who can spot the most shooting stars and satellites, we got 12 satellites - 1 of which was the International Space Station.

A quick trip to the bakery on the way home to pick up a pie and some lemon meringue brought the evening to a close. Just going through a couple of pictures I need to try and blip now, this one was taken as dusk was kicking in. Queenstown in all it's glory with The Remarkables in the background. Lovely stuff.
