Smoky Polypore

As far as I can discover, looking in my fungi book and online, I think this fungus is called Smoky Polypore or Bjerkandera adusta. Found it growing in a little copse in the village that rejoices in the name of Blackbird Wood. It only takes two or three minutes to circumnavigate, but it is a pleasant little leafy spot.

It was only when I viewed the photo that I spotted that baby nettle tucked in there. No wonder they're hard to get rid of in gardens, when their growing season starts straight after summer.

Thanks for all the visits and stars on my yesterblipday!
