Golden Broom

Common broom, Cytisus scoparius, is an invasive weed, but it is glorious at this time of year. This hillside, much longer than is shown here, is a real standout in the landscape.

The mountains are the southern end of the Craigieburn Range. The mountain road marks Porters Ski Field. There was fresh snow again on the peaks this morning. A cool start, but the sunshine was warm.

The southern black backed gull is a juvenile.
