Long Valley Eagle

The 200 year old tree was diseased and had to be cut down, but a local sculptor asked for the bottom 20 feet or so to be left.

Over a period of a month or so he sculpted this bald headed eagle and called her Liberty.

You can see where the sculpture is starting to crumble away being chewed at by assorted critters. The other side of it is really badly damaged but nobody seems to care.

A bit like the real thing in a way. If nobody cares then liberty will slowly diminish to the point where she is but a distant memory....
