Dynamics...

This parenting lark is a real roller-coaster!
Huge crescendos at times then plunging low notes...
And then, back up again...

Niamh sat her Grade 2 piano exam on Tuesday. No nerves, no tantrums, no what-ifs. Just a very calm confidence and assuring "it's just an exam, not the end of the world!" with a wisdom of someone much older than 10 years old.

A wee pale face and a definite lip-tremble when she came out set my maternal vibes into overdrive and my suspicions were realised when she burst into tears in the car and it all came tumbling out; all about the "wonky" fingers and the really stupid answers in the aural tests and the lack of dynamics...

She hasn't touched her beloved piano all week until late last night when she took it upon herself to sight read the first half of big brother's Grade 4 piece...just because.

Anyway, all was revealed today when she received her crit which awarded her a very credible 84/100 - 2 marks from Distinction along with a very positive comment about her DYNAMICS!!

And the terrible aural test? 8/10.

I've had enough of dynamics this week to last for quite some time!

Only fitting that Niamh is my Blip today...back in front of the keys like most days!
Phew!
