Hydro #3

See LARGE.

This is the third in the sequence of images from the freshly restored Hydro Majestic Hotel. It is still not easy to get where one needs to go, given that much of the complex is not yet open but that will all change in a few weeks as I understand it. Here is the last view. From that position we have turned hard left, walked down some steps, made our way toward the car park and turned around to face the pavilion. Next time we shall start to move off to the right, around the building you can see and head due west toward the traditional part of the property.

I think people are getting the wrong impression. This view of the Hydro is NOT the main entrance to the hotel. This is one END of a complex that runs for the best part of a kilometre along the Great Western Highway. The ornate Edwardian main entrance is coming up in future pictures. The long flat section is the exhibition pavilion which is actually a brand new extension to the old original structure. All that used to be here were some maintenance sheds, furnaces, warehouses and rubbish - much of which developed in relatively recent times, were pretty decrepit and have all been cleared away together with the scrub which obscured them.

The French looking building (with the fire escape) dates (I believe) from the 1920s. The new landscaping, the paths, the sealed roadway area and the carpark behind us are all brand new as well.
