In Wonderland

A trip to Chatsworth today - with hordes of other people - to see the house decorated for Christmas with an Alice in Wonderland theme. The last mile and a half took forever and we were then parked well away from the house so the logistics were somewhat stressful. We should also have been welly-booted to cope with the car park but once we decided on our plan all was well.

They had done a great job on decorating the house: Christmas trees everywhere and such a mix of the usual, beautiful artefacts of the house and added Alice extras. My favourite was the Mad Hatter's tea party in the Great Hall, particularly the March Hare sat on his solid silver chair but I decided that this shot of the dodo backed by an enormous family portrait and bookended by marble busts was the best blip-mento of the day.

Bailey was left in the car whilst we toured the house and then came for a bit of a wander around the garden in the sunshine that eventually appeared. He enjoyed the new experiences, mainly the smells and then slept most of the way home. A grand day out all round.
