A piece of history

Mixed emotions at the arrival of our ceramic poppy, from the 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas Of Red' commemoration at the Tower of London.

It is something to treasure as a tiny part of a truly wonderful artwork to mark the centenary of the start of World War One. But it also painfully recalls the 888,246 lives lost in that terrible conflict.

My grandfather rode a war horse in WW1. Thankfully he came through to return home at the end of it, unlike so many of his comrades.
