Harlequin...

Dedicated to backwoodsman... backwoodsman

The Clydesdale horse sculptures are starting to appear again at various points in Hamilton. It is lovely to have them back!

For anyone who isn't familiar with them, it was an initiative this summer whereby various prominent local artists painted the scultures, which were then auctioned off to raise a staggering £67,800 for the Hospice. They all sold for in excess of £1,000, some substantially more so.

There is something very pleasing about a) artists being sponsored by local businesses to produce work to brighten the area, while also b) raising money for a good cause, then c) local businesses and individuals buying the scultures and d) giving them back to the town to be enjoyed by everyone. Well done, Hamilton!

(PS - note to backwoodsman - Alan's mosaic (officially Harlequin!) is now proudly positioned outside St John's Church Hall to be enjoyed by patrons heading in for their morning cuppa! :)
