Curves

Another wet day. A quick blip in Fabrezan when I popped out to do some shopping. Go large to see the curlicues.

This morning, S bravely decided to tackle Orange about our Internet speed, which has been glacially slow for weeks. He took the precaution of phoning the Mairie and a friend and getting them to do speed tests -- theirs was diabolical as well. He then spent an hour on the phone to Orange.

Orange: "We've tested the line and you've got 18 Mbits download."
S: "Well, how come my speed test says 700 Kbits?"
Orange: "Megabits?"
S: "No, kilobits! Less than one megabit."

This went on and on. Despite him repeatedly telling them that everyone in the village had the same problem, they insisted on him rebooting the router, connecting with a cable instead of wifi, rebooting the PC, switching off the antivirus (???), repeating ad infinitum ... eventually he managed to jump through enough hoops to get put through to level 2 support.

This afternoon they called back.

Orange: "There's a leak in the junction box outside the Mairie."
S: "So all our megabits are falling out??"

Apparently they are. We enjoyed visualising a pile of 0s and 1s accumulating around the box. An engineer is coming on Friday.

PS Thanks for all the hearts and stars for Monday's blip!
