Warm Hyacinth

Someone bought me this hyacinth plant last week and it is already starting to bloom and smells lovely. It's strange isn't it that names come and go. In about the 1920's there were many girls' names that were flowers - Hyacinth, Lily, Rose, Poppy, etc. A few have now come back, but I haven't met many babies called Hyacinth yet.

When I arrived home this evening, it was to a cold house. The electricity has been off in our area today - we were notified a couple of weeks ago that the planned maintenance would occur today. However, it has done something to our oil-fired central heating boiler, and although the boiler thinks it's on, it's definitely not. C has been investigating, and has checked everything he can think of but it's still no-go.

We're now huddled around the log burner (thank goodness we've got that) and it'll be off to bed soon with a hot water bottle and a Bournvita. We know how to live around here! I could always save on the washing up and take a hot water bottle filled with Bournvita.

Let's hope the boiler man can fix the problem tomorrow.
