The Pathway

It is incredibly dry here in Marlborough. Some areas are going to have water restrictions imposed on them unless we get substantial rain in the next few days. Although there is a cold front bringing rain up the east coast of the South Island as I type it is unlikely to give much relief.
The green grasses along the Taylor River are no longer green. They have dried off very rapidly and have in some cases turned a golden brown. The Californian Poppies are still flowering but they are smaller in response to their drier environment. I found some unusual poppies alongside this small section of track. They are creamy-white rather than the usual vibrant yellow-gold and are rather lovely.
