First Snow

More snow fell on the mountains last night. There was a slight frost this morning, but my beans and zucchini were safe under their blankets.

This is part of the Torlesse Range, taken at 8.20 am. On the right is The Gap, which is the range's distinguishing feature when viewed from the Canterbury Plains. The snow brings the mountains to life. Because they are dark grey they tend to appear smaller and further away. Compare with a shot of this peak taken a bit over two weeks ago. By this afternoon most of the snow had gone, leaving thin threads covering the mountainsides.

You might like to look at this in large.

Yesterday was amazing. Such a large number of people looked at, and a lot left comments, on my 300th blip. Thank you everyone. You are wonderful.
