Shooting time again

It may be pleasant
To be a Pheasant
But perhaps not
When you're in the pot.

This wind vane gives a clue to the kind of area in which we live.

When Gait Barrows became a National Nature Reserve the agreement for the purchase of the land contained a clause under which the Reserve had to be closed for eight Saturdays every year in the months between November and February.

Pheasant breeding is an important part of our local economy. They are very colourful but not very bright about how to cross the road.
