Out of the bedroom window

Staying with friends in South Manchester so was up a little later than usual.

Looked out of the bedroom window and saw this interesting cloud formation.

Back at home I have a book about clouds and their endless variation. When I get back I must see if I can discover what physical conditions cause clouds to form ridges such as these. Unless of course there is anyone out there who can throw light on the phenomena.
