Spirit of Youth...

Backblip

Busy day for my young man. Up early and off out with Gill, wheelchair iceskating then lunch out then back home for an early dinner then it was time to get ready to attend Perthshire's Spirit of Youth Awards. Alan was still insisting he wasn't going as he was getting his shoes on!

David arrived home from work and we set off. For once in our lives we we early for an event! (We're usually late for everything!!) Got parked just outside Perth Concert Hall and headed inside to register. The place was really busy, full of so many young people. Made me feel quite old!

Met up with Andrew and Ewan, who Alan went to school with. They were part of the school's Environmental Group and had been nominated for the Environmental Contribution Award, sponsored by Perth & Kinross Youth Services, for all their hard work recycling ALL of the school's waste that could be recycled. They were up against two other very worthy groups but to everyone's delight, they won! Not only that, Alan won an individual award for Personal Achievement. That was a complete surprise as we knew nothing about that one!

And after saying he didn't want to go he had a great time! Up on the stage twice collecting an award, ogling the cheerleaders, seeing Mrs Clarke, one of the teachers from his old school and meeting up with the boys! A great night!

Unfortunately the photos of Alan on the stage collecting his awards were taken by David on his phone, but the phone didn't save them (it's never been the same since he dropped is down the loo! Hopefully Santa will bring a new one) but this shot was taken at the start of the night, whilst we were still in the foyer. The pipe band had just started playing and Alan had just spotted a video that he featured in being played on the bank of about 30 TVs behind the pipers!
