Book launch

We spent a wonderful afternoon at Comunn Eachdraidh Nis (the Ness Historical Society) at the launch the fabulous new book on the effects of WW1 on this community. There were speeches, songs, recitation of letters from the front, and some entertaining stories told. The society's rooms were used to display an exhibition of photographs, and memorabilia on the war. This, it was firmly stressed, was to commemorate the Great War, not to celebrate it. This was a very fitting commemoration of the brutality and futility of war.
