Merry Christmas from Vaux-le-Vicomte

Saturday
Roger had been ill yesterday evening and into the early hours, so slept in much of the morning. Fortunately, once he got up and had a shower, and had a piece of toast, he was feeling much better and reckoned he felt well enough to go out for the afternoon. We had been planning to go up to Paris, but felt it was a bit late to do that, and in any case it would be a bit tiring for him, so instead we went to see the chateau of Vaux le Vicomte all decked out for Christmas. I had seen some pictures online, but I was still blown away - it was amazing, with wonderfully decorated trees and other decorations in all the major rooms. Outside, there was an avenue of evergreen trees leading up to the main entrance, and there were lights in the formal section of the gardens. As the light faded, the chateau was lit up in red, and the avenue of trees were lit up in white - it really was a winter wonderland. Roger was clearly not at his usual energy levels, but otherwise he felt OK and was able to enjoy the afternoon.
