MonoMonday:Home

I have been too busy to be clever today so rushed out and took 4 pictures (all much the same) of our house for MonoMonday:Home, expertly hosted by Skeena.

I thought it would at least be original but I see quite a few others have also resorted to posting their own home.

It was built in 1938 although people often think it is older. One of the original family told us his grandfather brought an expensive architect out from England to design it and he forgot he was in the southern hemisphere. Consequently it is back to front with all the light coming into the bedrooms rather than the living areas.

We have lived here for 31 years and are only the 3rd owners. The second lot were here for just 6 years.

For a brief period in the 1950s it was used as a boarding house for children from Sydney whose parents wanted to offload them for the school holidays.

Whenever tradesmen go into the roof or underneath they comment on how well built it is. That's nice to know.
