Snow arrives in the English Lake District

The mountain on the left of the picture is The Old Man of Coniston. The photograph was taken by an Old Man of Arnside!

The "castle" in the middle is Witherslack Hall. It was built in the 1870s and is now a boys school.

The water in the foreground is the Kent Estuary. It was just past high tide.

One of the joys of living here is that often in the winter we can see snow in a number of directions and yet we keep snow and ice free roads and pavements. I am also quite pleased with the zoom lens on my Bridge camera. The summit of the Old Man must be seven or eight miles away as the crow flies.
