Newman Bros, Birmingham

Newman Brothers was a company that made adornments for coffins. The company closed in 1999 but the factory has been restored and recently re-opened as a tourist attraction. It's an interesting place to visit - coffin adornments aren't really items I ever thought much about. They were still using heavy manually operated Victorian machinery when the place closed in the 90s. This is a table of examples of metal and plastic coffin adornments. The plastic ones are for cremations. The room is their old warehouse.
