Ramp.

At the RIBA HQ today I noticed this brilliantly elegant design solution to the access ramps up to the front entrance. The slopes are an integral part of the steps, curving up on either side to the front doors.

The building is a 1930's masterpiece and so the accessibility design is years ahead of its time.

And the thing is, everyone walks up the ramps rather than bother with the steps - a complete reversal of the norm.

I hadn't noticed it before but you have to applaud its simple ingenuity.
