Capturing the Everyday

Our First Leeks!

When we had the garden landscaped we wanted three raised veggie boxes and thought we’d have a go at growing some of our own food. We’d dabbled in the past with the odd attempt at spuds and runner beans but nothing serious.

Well so far we’ve enjoyed , lettuce, broccoli, beetroot, kale, sweet corn, sweet potato, coriander, parsley, chives - we failed (or handed over) our cabbage and cauliflower to butterflies.

What we’ve discovered is everything grows so well and so quickly in New Zealand :)

So this photo records our first harvest of leeks which were so easy to grow.

It’s an appropriate day for leeks because the sky has been leaking all day and night and at the moment we live on the river bank because the reserve has flooded!
