Atomic Bomb Dome

This is one of the few buildings to survive the Hiroshima nuclear bomb blast in August 1945.

Originally built in 1915 by Czech architect Jan Letzel as the city's Industrial Promotion Hall, it was one of the few concrete buildings in Hiroshima before the war.

It was at the epicentre of the blast killing everyone inside but saving the structure from the worst of the aftershock. Now it is a memorial to those who died.
