A Lovely Day Out

This was taken at Nerja, looking towards El Balcon de Europa, the Choir was singing in the church there. Their first Christmas concert.

We had a marathon of a day, starting at 9.30 am from El Ejido and returning at 3.45 am the following morning! As soon as the coach set off, choir members started singing, accompanied by a drum and tamborine!

First it was a guided tour of a hilltop village called Frigiliana, a beautiful typical white Spanish village. All narrow cobbled streets.

Then on to the Caves at Nerja where we had a four course lunch typical of the Menu of the Day, followed by a guided tour of the Caves which were amazing. Unfortunately we could not use the flash on the cameras to prevent causing temporary blindness to others and causing possible accidents, so no really good photos.

Then on to Nerja itself for the choir to change and rehearse, we ladies went for a drink and look round the shops!

The concert started at 8.30, the Nerja choir singing also. By this time it was 11.00 and myself and my Belgian friend were ready for home, however, then we had to go eat! We had cheese, tomatoes with garlic, olives and bread, followed by Aubergine lightly battered and deep fried drizzled with the local honey; pork tenderloin; whitebait in light batter; cod in light batter, washed down with wine, beer and water. We thought we had done and then out came Cava.

Of course, as anyone knows who has been connected with choirs, there is always a sing song afterwards. So eventually at 1.00 am we set off for the coach.

Great day out, but exhausting
