Wonderful pattern

This guy caught my eye when walking down my front garden path. It was intent on stalking out its prey on the corner of its web, which was attached to several stalks of a miniature rose. It took me ages to focus my macro function onto the pattern, but I snapped it OK in the end. I haven't seen such a distinctly patterned spider for a while - the patterns in nature are truly wonderful.
